Father's Sacrifice: Old Man Hikes Everyday To Feed His Family

To see our parents suffer for us is a heartbreak. Parents will do everything for the sake of their children despite of the tough situation that they face. An example of a loving parent who have an unconditional love and sacrifice for his children is Nong Arunting, a poor old man who lives in a secluded area of Barangay Tiguib Ayungon, Negros Occidental, Philippines.

Arunting is dedicated in everything he's doing because his love for his daughters gives him the strength to tirelessly hike a path surrounded by big rocks and a body of water for 30 minutes excluding another 30 minutes of walk from the main road everyday. He passes through it in order to get food for his handicapped children. It is heartbreaking to know that he has to experience it everyday. This struggle that he has to encounter is basically difficult for him considering that he is old enough and weak to be doing it.

They live in a small house located at the end of the road, a place far from civilization. It may not be that big enough to accommodate them but they consider it as their home.

This old man who never gets tired of walking such distance to feed his family deserves the respect and love of everyone. He is indeed a great example of a good father because not all fathers can do what he does. After his story went viral, people from different places helped him. Through God's blessings, a group of kindhearted people from Gawad Kalinga and Canada for Negros helped in building a new home for the family. All of them helped hand in hand in building a house that is much better for the family to stay. When the house is completely built, they started to relocate his family by carrying them while the old man joins the group as they hike their way out. The family is delighted by such surprise and goodness from the people as they reach their new home. Their new home is in a place which is much cooler than before. They now have neighbors and are close to the market and water resources.

"As a parent, I couldn't dare to leave them. Do you dare to leave them knowing they are your children? It is very shameful in your personality. It's better for me if I wasn't born," the old man said in a conversation with the people who helped them.

His story is really inspiring and will surely touch people's hearts.
